Dog Survived After Getting Knocked By A Car of 70mph

In Southern Italy, one-year old pooch was hit by a speeding vehicle of 70mph. Unfortunately, the driver-Marco Menozzi didn’t stop the vehicle immediately to see the fate of the dog. But he stopped the car after 15 miles to see what happened to his car.

For his surprise, he could see the dog in the grill of his car. The driver was not punished for his act of hit and run because the dog survived even after knocked with a speed of 70mph.

Experts opined that if the dog was knocked with lesser speed, he would have bounced off the car and been crushed under the wheels.

I think the dog escaped because the plastic grill disintegrated and absorbed much of the energy of the impact.

As far as my knowledge is concerned the driver should be punished with a fine because he didn’t stop the vehicle to see the fate of the canine.

But the dog is really lucky because he escaped with little scrapes and bruises with a broken leg.

When a dog suffers a serious injury or the sudden onset of illness, your first priority is to keep calm (panic will only waste valuable time) and contact a local veterinary practice without delay for advice and assistance. You can take the following action if unable to reach help immediately, but do not attempt dog first aid if you are at all uncertain of what you are doing.

  • Make sure that the dog can breathe by removing debris from its mouth and gently pulling the tongue forward.
  • Place the dog in a recovery position, with its left side uppermost, and keep it warm.
  • Check for a heartbeat by placing the heel of your hand on the left side of the dog’s chest just behind the elbow. Give cardiac massage if you are unable to feel a heartbeat.
  • Stop any bleeding.
  • Take the dog as quickly as possible to the nearest veterinary practice.

The Dog First-Aid Kit

It is a wise precaution to carry a first-aid kit for your dog in the house or car in case of accident or emergency. Many veterinary centers supply special first-aid kits, but you can make your own by including the following items:

  • Bandages of different widths, including a self-adhesive bandage.
  • A gauze pad and sterile dressings.

  • Cotton balls.
  • A length of cord or tape to make an emergency muzzle or tourniquet.

5. Watch out for flea dirt, particularly when grooming around the base of the tail.

6. Clean the area around the bottom and check that the anal sacs are not inflamed.

7. Use scissors to tidy the hair around the ears, eyes, muzzle, and bottom.

8. With a dampened cotton ball, wipe away any mucus in the corner of the eye.

If Your Dog Faints, What Should You Do?

It can be very frightening if your dog suddenly collapses. There are two kinds of collapse: a faint and Seizure. It is not easy to differentiate between them if you’re seeing them first time.

If your dog faints, don’t panic. remain calm. Usually the collapse will last only a matter of seconds, no more than a minute or two at most.

Lay the dog on its right side in a comfortable position. If its gums and tongue appear bluish and the dog is unconsious, ensure a free airway by pulling its tongue as far out of its mouth as seems comfortable. Get someone to call the vet for advice. Meanwhile, attempt artificial respiration if necessary.

Check for the heart beat by feeling the left side of its chest behind the elbow and give first aid if necessary.

The main cause for the collapse is lack of oxygen to brain. It may be caused by poor circulation resulting from the heart’s failure to pump blood effeciently.

A convulsive fit may signal a brain disorder such as epilepsy. The dog will normally take longer to recover than after a faint. Even metabolic disorders of the liver and kidneys, and diabetes mellitus, can also cause convulsive-type collapses and lead to coma if treated.

Most of us are taking meat or fish on Sundays and have a nice nap in the afternoon. Some of my friends ask is there any special diet for their dogs especially on Sundays. I inquired this fact with some of the pet owners. They are giving a special diet called “Rice-Meat Pudding” for their beloved dog.

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbs vegetable oil
  • 1 cup vegetables
  • 4 cups rice
  • 1/2 cup of ground meat

Method

Cook all ingredients together in a hot air oven. Be sure that the meat  is well-cooked. Allow to boil and serve to your beloved pet.

Your dog will love this dish like anything. Only thing it won’t take the regular feed next day because it will ask the same special diet next day also. If you won’t provide this rice-meat pudding on next day, it will take the next meal.
