By buying the poor quality toy, one should never invite the health complication for the beloved pet animal.

There are certain key features that one has to consider at the time of purchase. Size- the size of the toy should be such that the dog shouldn’t swallow. Safe- the toy must be safe to use and should not harm the dog in any way. The material used needs to be non –toxic. Design- the design of the dog should be such that it shouldn’t have any sharp edges which can damage the dog’s mouth. Durable- None prefers anything that becomes useless short duration of time, which holds good for dog toy too. Washable- the toy should be washable, so that the hygiene requirement is met. The toys suitable for heavy breeds will never meet the requirements of small breeds. Just because a toy is popular in heavy breeds, he can’t buy the same for small breeds.
The toy that can be tossed a long way is preferred by many as most of the dogs will love to play with it irrespective of the breed size. The toy must be funny for the dog. The dog must love the toy. The toy must flexible, it can’t be too rigid.

Small toys or the stuffed or rope kind of toy needs to be avoided if the dog loves to chew. This is because the stuffed part or the loose string can be pulled out by the dog and can be ingested, thus causing hell a lot of complications. The ingested part may choke or even block the intestine which may result in fatal consequences. It is the duty of the pet owner to have a count on the toys so that he can find out if any one is missing. The duty of the pet owner doesn’t end with the purchase of the toy that is liked by the dog. He needs to supervise the dog while it plays with the toy. The toys should be periodically checked for cleanliness and damage. In case any minor damage or loosened part is noted, the toy has to be thrown out immediately. One has to have some toy in store for immediate replacement. The dog toys must be rotated on regular basis in order to sustain the dog’s interest in playing. The pet owner must remember to take the dog toy while taking the toy for short tour or our door play.
